Looking for toddle bike - and items to loan to grandparents

Neighbor Jean Carr is looking to purchase a used bike with training wheels for a 4 or 5 year old BOY. Good condition - to be kept at Granma's house. Please email Jean Carr at jeanmaw@bellsouth.net if you have one or call 404-323-3334.

She also has pac 'n play, stoller, baby car seat, and high chair if any other grandparents need to borrow when having family visit.

Looking for running partners

Who wants to join me with in following a beginner’s runners schedule? Starting off with walking, picking up the pace, adding some jogging and eventually able to run for quite a distance.

I was thinking of Wednesdays at 8.00 PM and Saturdays at 9.00 AM (or do you have another option)?

There are numerous websites with training schedules; I’ll find a good one (maybe like http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml). Hopefully we can make a group and always meet at the same location. That way, even in all kinds of weather, there will always be someone to run with.

I’ve done this before, and with some dedication, it is a very easy way to get in great shape. Basic rule:  you should be able to talk throughout the run. If you can’t, you’re short of breath and have started off too fast. Your body rebels and you want to quit. No fun.

Please e-mail me if you are interested. Nicolien.eckelboom@gmail.com

Two great internet sites for kids to learn "Why does it do that?"

While finding a site that explains (in a manner suitable for kindergarteners) how elevators work and came across two wonderful websites that you might enjoy:

  1. American Library Association's Great Websites for Kids
  2. How Stuff Works website

Read the paper, then give to the shelter!

Dekalb County Animal Services officials are looking for help obtaining old newspapers to line cages. Papers may be left in the lobby or just outside the front door of the Animal Shelter at 845 Camp Road.

To contribute a large amount of papers or to set up a drop-off schedule, call Sheryl Elliott at 404-294-3090.

Please pick up after your dog

Please remember that when walking your dog it is absolutely necessary to pick up your dog’s feces, regardless if it is in a neighbor’s yard or in an open area, e.g. DCFW entranceway. By picking up after your dog you are not only being respectful of your neighbors’ property, you are also keeping our neighborhood looking beautiful & clean.

If you have any comments and/or suggestion on how to ensure that all feces is cleaned up, please contact a board member to discuss.  Thank you.
